By becoming a member of the Health Super Student Club you acknowledge that any information we receive from or about you through the Student Club will be recorded and used according to our Privacy Policy as shown below.

FSS Trustee Corporation ("we" or "us") is the trustee of the First State Superannuation Scheme of which Health Super is a division (Health Super) ("the Fund") which collects your personal information for the purposes of providing services to you through the Health Super Student Club. Health Super must comply with the Privacy Act 1988, incorporating the ten National Privacy Principles ("NPPs"), which regulates the collection, holding, use, correction and disclosure of "personal information" by private sector organisations. "Personal information" is information about an individual, which can identify the individual, and includes "sensitive information" which is information about a person's health, politics, sexual preference and other matters.

Health Super Pty Ltd ABN 97 084 162 489, AFSL 246492 is the administrator of the Fund which collects and uses your personal information when administering your account on behalf of Health Super.

This Privacy Policy is provided for Club Members and potential Club Members of the Health Super Student Club.

Why we collect your personal information

We only collect personal information that is necessary for our functions as administrator of the Student Club. Our primary purposes for collecting your personal information are to:

  • Establish you as a Club Member;
  • Improve our website and our services to you.

When we disclose your personal information

We generally disclose information to third parties which assist us in the operation of the Student Club if we have a contract or agreement with them. For example, disclosure may be made to: mail houses, information technology providers and associated companies of Health Super. We may also disclose information to third parties where necessary to administer the Student Club. We may also be required to disclose Club Members' personal information where required or authorised by relevant law.

Data Quality

We need to keep our records up-to-date in order to provide you with information about your Student Club membership. For these reasons we may contact you requesting that you update us with your current details.

Security

To protect your personal information from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure we maintain security measures in handling your personal information. These include:

  • Providing only a limited amount of personal information by email;
  • Strictly controlling and monitoring personal information stored in documents (as a hard copy), as electronic data or in software on our systems to ensure data integrity;
  • Archiving or secure destruction of non-current information in both electronic form and hard copy;
  • Annual Internal and External Audit review of security and annual compliance audit of a fraud control checklist.

Openness, Access and Corrections

This Privacy Policy is made available to any person on request and is available on our website. We generally allow you to access, verify and correct the personal information we hold about you. However the NPPs entitle us to refuse access in particular circumstances. If we do refuse you access, we will normally give you our reasons for doing so. Requests for access will generally be acknowledged within 7 days and responded to in writing within 14 days. However, this may take a longer time in some circumstances. Health Super will not charge Club Members for reasonable access to personal information. There is a form on our website for updating your personal information, however if you wish to do this by telephone, we are required to verify your identity before making any changes.

More Information and Complaints

The Health Super Student Club Privacy Officer handles enquiries and complaints about its privacy practices. Please contact the Privacy Officer if you are concerned that we have interfered with your privacy. If you are not satisfied with our response to your complaint, you may contact the Privacy Commissioner.
